The bond between fathers and sons is one of a kind, and so is the music that describes it. J.S. Bach wrote a festive, early cantata, “Der Herr denket an uns” (The Lord hath been mindful of us), while Arvo Pärt created a meditative chain of generations with his piece Which Was the Son of. Especially moving is the Davidic lament Absalom, my son by Michael Barrett. Also on the program are the wonderful Miserere by James MacMillan and the motet Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden (Praise the Lord, all ye nations) by J.S. Bach.
Beautiful sounds that will resonate even more within a church acoustic.
A concert where the music—perhaps much like the intergenerational family bond—is at times quiet
