The Requiem by Maurice Duruflé
The Israeli Vocal Ensemble
Guest Conductor: Luis Gorelik (Argentina)
Piano and organ: Raviv Leibzirer
Conductor Luis Gorelik leads the Israeli Vocal Ensemble in the requiem of the French composer Maurice Duruflé, a beautiful work, played extensively alongside the requiem by Fauré. The performance brings to the center the organist Raviv Leibzirer and the symphonic organ in heavenly music, which combines the enveloping and powerful sound of the church organ and the human voices. In the second part of the concert, the conductor brings with him the special spirit of South American music in six Native American songs by composer Carlos Guastavino and excerpts by Astor Piazzolla, and Heitor Villa-Lobos.
